Prints Featured at the New York Public Library

04/02/08 Roberto's prints for the Book of Cartography will be featured as part of "An Evening of Rarities" at the New York Public Library.  The event celebrates the release of Stags' Leap Winery's A Guide to the Estate book set.


Exhibit at San Francisco Center for the Book and African American Museum and Library, Oakland, California

08/15/08 Roberto's mixed media piece "Origin" was featured in this show curated by Hanna Regev. Participating artists included Enrique Chagoya, Sandow Birk, Mildred Howard, Emory Douglas, Naomie Kremer and many others.

Exhibit at Durban Segnini Gallery in Miami, Florida

12/11/08 Exhibit in Miami, Florida, featuring the mixed media piece "Blueprint/Redprint" by Roberto Rovira to benefit the Step by Step Foundation as part of the DesignMiami events held in Miami's Design District during Art Basel.  The Step by Step Foundation exhibit raised funds for the construction of the Tipa Tipa elementary school in Haiti.

Presentation at Rhode Island School of Design

04/20/09 Returning to Providence ten years after obtaining his Masters in Landscape Architecture, the lecture will discuss the range of work Roberto has done over the last decade and how RISD helped build an important foundation for the preoccupations and interests he has cultivated since then. The role of the print and Roberto's thesis work at RISD which mapped the city of Granada, Nicaragua, will be presented.

03/29/10 Roberto will present "Infiltrations, Innovations and Discoveries: Landscape as an Unstable Medium" as part of the Outlandish / LABASH 2010 conference.

Other guest speakers will include: Dale Chihuly, Andy Cao, Daniel Ortega, Jerry van Eyck, Margartet Crawford, Mark Rios, Matthew O'Brien, Mia Lehrer, Pamela Burton, Peter Yeadon and Walter Hood.

Prints Acquired by Book Collections in California

04/02/2008 Stags’ Leap Winery: A Guide to the Estate, published in 2006, is a limited edition five-volume set of books gathered into a linen-bound portfolio case. Each volume addresses a different topic related to the winery: historical timelines, natural history, gaming, winemaking, and the perspectives of the Stags’ Leap community.

The books are available either as individual volumes, or as complete case sets and can be viewed at the Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley, the St. Helena Wine Library, the UCLA Special Collections, the UC Davis Special Collections, The Wine Reserve (Napa), and Harlan Estates.

Prints Acquired by John F. Kennedy Library for the Donovan J. McCune Permanent Collection

2003 Roberto's prints, Cartography I & II, were acquired by Vallejo, California's JFK Library's rare books and prints collection.

de•con•struc•ture Show at Michelle O'Connor Gallery

07/04 Group show with Elysa Lozano and Sarah Hirneisen featured Roberto's Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley and Russian River Wine Country prints, as well as other original works pertaining to his cartographic investigations of Northern California.

Prints Acquired by Vallejo Naval & Historical Museum

2003 Roberto's prints, Cartography I & II, were acquired by the museum as part of its permanent collection.

Presentation at ETSAB in Barcelona, Spain

07/10/09 Roberto will be presenting "Impermanent Infrastructures: Rational & Romantic Derivations at the City’s Edge" at  Escola Tecnica Superior de Barcelona [ETSAB]. The lecture will cover several investigations done using the medium of the print and the process of map-making as an important tool in the design process.
